He struggled with dyslexia, hiding his difficulties from friends and teachers, and grappled with autism and anger, which nearly derailed his education-he barely graduated high school. Adulthood brought new trials, including legal issues, battles with mental health, and overcoming substance abuse.
However, a turning point came when Rick found faith and embraced a more open approach to life. In 2010, inspired by a simple sketch for a product designed to prevent beverage spills while snacking, he embarked on the challenging journey to secure a patent. Many would have given up. but Rick’s perseverance led to the creation of the Original Great Plate, which is now approaching $10 million in sales and set to launch in major retail outlets.
